May you experience the presence of Christ in a new and living way each day as He is being unveiled in you.
Lets continue with the “end of the world” where the most common response was  “no one knows the day nor the hour” as recorded in Matthew 24: 36-44.  Here Jesus is speaking of the days of Noah.  So lets look in Genesis to see what was happening in the days of Noah.  In Genesis 6:5-13 we read: And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.  And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.  But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.  These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.  And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.  The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.  And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.  And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.  Genesis 7:1 & 12  And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.  And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.  Genesis 8:1-4  And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided; The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained; And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.  And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.  In Noah’s day God brought judgement upon the world by means of the flood because of the wickedness of man’s heart.  In Genesis 6:13 we read where God said “I will destroy them with the earth”.  After the waters decreased the ark rested on the mountains of Ararat so the earth was still there.  So we must ask ourselves what earth (world) was destroyed?  It is interesting to note that the same flood that destroyed the wicked also delivered the righteous.  We read in 1 Peter 3:20 “eight souls were saved through water”.
In Jesus’s description of Noah’s day from Matthew 24:40 & 41 we read: Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.  Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.  I ask the brethren this question: Who was taken and who was left?  The response was the good were taken and the evil were left and one was taken to heaven and the other was left.  In this account and also in Luke 17:34-36 Jesus didn’t say the good were taken and the evil were left or the good taken to heaven.  He just said one was taken and the other was left.  So I ask the brethren where did your understanding come from?  He said that is what I have always heard and been taught.  Traditions are hard to break!

May you experience the presence of Christ in a new and living way each day as He is being unveiled in you.
We will be meeting with the landlord in December to discuss the house situation.  Please continue to pray with us.
About a month before we left Kenya in June for the states there was another prediction concerning the world coming to an end.  We became aware of this because it was on the news in Kenya.  We are all aware that this is not the first prediction of this kind nor will it be the last.  Out of curiosity in several of the meetings before we left Kenya I ask the question, When you heard the world was coming to an end what scripture or words come to mind?  The response was no one knows “the day nor the hour“.  Before we look at ”the day nor the hour” lets first look at the words “the end of the world”.  In the King James Version of the bible Jesus said “the end of the world” in Matthew 13:39 & 49, Matthew 24:3 & Matthew 28:20.  In these verses the translators took the Greek word “aion” which means “age or period of time” and translated it with the word “world” which is incorrect.  The same is true in Hebrews 9:26.  With this error many have the belief the world is coming to an end (traditions are hard to break) when Jesus said no such thing.  Paul speaks of this age (KJV-world) and that which is to come in Ephesians 1:21.  So Paul speaks of one age ending and another one beginning so Jesus simply spoke of the age ending not the world.
One of the most frequently used verses concerning the day and hour is Matthew 24:36-44 and they read as: But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.  But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.  Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.  Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.  But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.  Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

May you experience the presence of Christ in a new and living way each day as He is being unveiled in you.
We will try to update everyone up who were not aware with what has been going on with us.  As you all know Bobby had cataract surgery in August.  Everything went well with the cataract surgery.  He has also had eight skin cancers removed.  Around the middle of September the doctor found a mass in Bobby’s throat.  After several test he was scheduled for surgery on September 30th.  Since we were scheduled to leave for Kenya September 26th. all our plans had to be changed.  The surgery went well and he had no problem at all with the recovery.  The mass that was removed from his throat was the size of a golf ball.  The pathology report came back negative for cancer.  Th doctor put him on thyroid medicine for now because the mass grew from a healthy thyroid and there could be a possibility one could come back.  We are planning to leave on October 25th. for Kenya.
Upon arriving back in Kenya there is another situation that awaits us.  Our landlord whom we have been renting from for about nineteen years is wanting to sell the house he has been renting to us.  Over the years he has been really good to us and we have had a good relationship between us.  On average our rent has been between $120.00 - $145.00 per month and this amount depends on the exchange rate.  The amount of rent we have been paying is really low for Eldoret.  He has not raised our rent since we moved into the house.  Because of our good relationship that we have he is giving us the first choice at buying the house.  This is all the details that we have right now.  When we return we will meet together and discuss in more detail the cost, etc.  There is a lot to consider so we ask you to be praying with us for clear direction from the Lord.  If the Lord directs us to buy the house then He will supply the finances for it and if we have to move to another house then our rent will probably triple.  Many people can’t believe that our rent has been as low as it was but we thank the Lord that it has because we don’t have the finances right now to pay any more rent or even buy the house.
Also pray for our flight back to Kenya.  We booked our flight with British Airways.  Our original return flight required us to leave Atlanta on American Airlines and connect with British Airways in Chicago and then on to Nairobi.  Since we had to change our flight we now fly with American Airlines from Atlanta to Chicago and then onto London before we connect with British Airways.  So this has presented us with a problem with our luggage because British Airways allows us to carry more luggage than American Airlines.  British Airways allows us three checked pieces each and American Airlines only allows one checked piece each and this is another unexpected  expense.
Through it all we Love and Praise our Father who is always Present and Faithful.

May you experience the presence of Christ in a new and living way each day as He is being unveiled in you.
We would like to make a few more comments concerning our study of “Who Chooses Who”.  We can remember reading a book many years ago written by Billy Graham where he came to realize that everyone that came forward during his crusades didn’t get born again.  So he began to call them seekers rather than saying they were all born again just because they came forward and said a prayer.  From my point of view I can at least say he was honest.
Shortly after arriving in Kenya some twenty years ago a fellow missionary gave us a book containing several testimonies of how God had touched their lives.  There was one testimony that we particular remember which brings some light to the subject at hand.  The story that I am referring to talks about a young girl being brought up in Russia.  She was saying when she was in school that she was being told every day that there was no God.  She said that if there is no God then why I am being told every day that there is no God.  I can’t remember her exact words but after she began thinking about these thoughts God sovereignly quickened her and she was born from above.  The thought that comes to mind is that no one was preaching to her or told her to say a certain prayer but quite the contrary, she was being told that there was no God.
Now just a thought from my own testimony.  When I was born from above no one was witnessing to me, I was not at a crusade or meeting of any sorts but I had come to the end of myself and I wanted to end it all.  The truth is I can’t really explain it but all I know is God began to change me.  Shortly there after I was baptized in the Holy Spirit in the privacy of my own home by myself and I was ignorant of this experience but what I did know was that I was not doing anything, it was all God.  What is even more interesting is sometime later we were attending a church service where everyone was sharing their born again experience.  I can remember them telling who was ministering to them, the day and time they said the sinners prayer and I am  thinking I didn’t say a sinners prayer so I began to wonder if I was born again because at this time in my walk with the Lord I thought that was the criteria.  I thank the Lord that He is sovereign.

Prayer Request:
Bobby is going to have to have a cataract taken off his left eye. The Doctor said there was no reading at all in his eye and glasses can not help anymore. He still does not have any insurance and we have been told this is going to cost $4,250.00.  He will be having cataract surgery on August 10th.  So we are believing the Lord to supply our need someway.

May you experience the presence of Christ in a new and living way each day as He is being unveiled in you.
Carole wanted to take this opportunity to give you an update on her ministry with Alpa.  Alpa is a young Asian women whom the Lord has knit their hearts together.  Her religion is Jainism and Alpa has been sharing Jainism with Carole and Carole has been sharing her walk with the Lord with her.  It has really help them to understand one another and accept each other without religion being a bone of contention.  They have been meeting for over a year now and there has been times when their meetings together they have had to overcome some rough places but through it all the Lord has done a wonderful work because they both look forward to their time together.  For the most part the large Asian community here is overlooked.  Many will say they have a heart for the lost and yet the Asian community is ignored or they have called themselves witnessing to them and when they don’t accept their plan of salvation they leave them alone.  As I said Alpa is a Jain and that is all she has ever known, as far as she is concerned that is who she is, that has become her culture.  So being an American this is something that is hard for us to relate to.  If you were Alpa and someone came up to you one day and began to tell you that everything about Jainism is wrong and you need to stop doing this and that and get born again or you are going to hell.  How would you feel if you were being condemned for something that was all you had ever known?  This is where you learn to listen to the Lord to guide you and give you the words to speak not depend on a rehearsed salvation message because this ministry to Alpa is all Father’s doing not mine.  Alpa realizes that God brought them together for a higher purpose.  If any women’s group are interested in hearing this story and where it is headed Carole is available.
Carole has been a member of the East African Women’s League for three years now.  It is a charitable organization which helps orphanages, school for the deaf and blind children and especially people who take babies from the hospitals who are born with birth defects because some mother’s will not take them home and they will starve to death, babies with aid’s, etc.  The Women’s League has supplied them with diapers and what ever their biggest need is at the time.
Carole is also a member of a quilting group since 1997.  They have been making quilts to sell.  The money from the sale of quilts as well as a variety of toiletries and food stuffs were given to different charities.  They visited a home for the elderly in Kisumu which at the time only had five residents so they were able to supply each one with a quilt and a large bag of maize.  The East African Women’s League has purchased baby cribs for several different orphanages so the Quilting group wants to make quilts for all of them.  So this is where you can help.  We need fabric donated such as 100 per cent cotton fabric, old baby sheets with pretty prints or solids, scraps of different fabrics and even prints to be used for larger quilts.  If you would like to donate some fabric or if you know of someone who would, the fabric can be sent to our Sandersville address.  If you need more than a P. O. Box it can also be sent to this address: 1317 Ridge Road, Sandersville, Ga. 31082.  It will certainly be put to good use and Thank you so much.

May you experience the presence of Christ in a new and living way each day as He is being unveiled in you.
Continuing with “Who chooses Who”.  As we ended last months newsletter with the inspired words of Paul “who can separate us from the Love of God”.  We must ask the question, if we feel we can choose or there is something that can separate us from the love of God we or whatever that thing maybe is more powerful than God.  In Revelation 4:11 we are told that God created all things.  So with any stretch of the imagination do you think that our Father who is all knowing thought for one moment that He might be taking a chance that one day something He created would overcome His authority and power.  If someone could separate themselves from the love of God (God is love) then where would they go because God is a omnipresent spirit.  If you have any doubts about God being omnipresent then read Psalm 139:7-12.
Let’s look at a few verses of scripture where Jesus called His disciples.  Matthew 4:19, He called Peter and Andrew, Matthew 9:9, He called Matthew, John 1:43-51, He called Philip and Nathanael.  What we see here is that when Jesus called these disciples He simply said “Follow Me” nothing else.  There was no conditions, no sinners prayer, not any formula to follow, etc.  Before someone gets upset with what I just said lets be honest.  Do you find a sinners prayer in the bible, do you find anywhere in the bible where Jesus or Paul said to anyone if you want to be born again you must say a sinners pray, of course Paul never used the term born again.  What is widely understood today is the criteria for one being born again is to say a sinners pray.  The emphases is placed on the saying of the prayer and not the Lord Himself who quickens the unregenerate.  Is it wrong to say a sinners prayer certainly not for God has certainly used a sinners prayer.  A sinners prayer is meaningless if the person is not first quickened by God regardless of whether one says a prayer or not.  As I had mentioned in a previous newsletter about this young man telling us he had said the sinners prayer twelve times and it didn’t work.  Instead of continuing with any given form we should ask ourselves maybe there is something that I am not understanding.  I could use myself as an example here but I will use another situation instead.  Several years ago I was ministering on the kingdom of God and afterwards the Pastor was closing the meeting and he told me there was a young man who wanted to be born again and would I pray for him and I said of course.  When the young man came to me I told him that I do not know how the Lord has dealt with you or spoken to you but I want you to express to the Lord your feelings or convictions.  I told him I am not going to put words in your mouth by telling you to repeat after me because you know what's going on inside of you better than I do.  The young man was hesitant for a while because he didn’t know what to do or how to respond because this was not the norm.  So I told him to pray and express what you are feeling to the Lord then we will pray with him and so he did.

May you experience the presence of Christ in a new and living way each day as He is being unveiled in you.
During the month of March we ministered with some new brethren that we had recently met and that was the reason we were busy more than usual.  We are thankful the Lord brought us in contact with them since the busyness is not what we are looking for, only the brethren whom the Lord would have us minister to.
Continuing with our study of “Who Chooses Who” as it unfolds from scripture.  Many will come across some Old Testament scriptures that would seem to say something different than what we have previously discussed.  I will use two of them that are most frequently quoted in referring to the unregenerate.  Deuteronomy 30:19  I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.  Joshua 24:15-22, verse 15: And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.  First of all we must ask ourselves a simple question.  These scriptures were spoken to whom?  The answer would be to Israel, and who was Israel?  They were God’s people.  They were descendants of Abraham and Abraham was a Chaldean, an idol worshiper and God made a nation out of him.  The Hebrews were not a nation that just happened to be on the earth and they were God’s people.  When Israel was redeemed out of bondage of Egypt, and only when they had come to know God and know His law, then they were confronted with the decision to “Choose Life”.  As Christians we do have choices and a lot of what we blame the devil for is the result of our bad choices.  In Romans 8:35-39 Paul is asking the question “Who can separate us from the Love of God”?  Then Paul begins to speak of some things but he also says “I am persuaded”  that none of those things he had mentioned could separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus.  We need to take some time and meditate on the following scriptures which speaks of the Love of God which has no preconditions attached to it.  Luke 2:14, John 3:16, John 15:13, Romans 5:6-8, 1 Corinthians 13:8, 11 Corinthians 5:19-21, Ephesians 1:6-8, Titus 3:4 & 1 John 4:8 “God is Love” this is the very essence of who He is so for God not to love, He would have to deny Himself.  We hear brethren saying all the time when they minister to the lost, they tell them how much God loves them.  Then I ask them if you really believe that God loves them, then why do you put conditions on God’s love?  Does that mean if they meet your conditions then God will love them or He will even love them more or it will make His love better?  Where do you find God putting conditions on His love?

May you experience the presence of Christ in a new and living way each day as He is being unveiled in you.
As we have shared the scriptures with the brethren concerning “Who Chooses Who” over the years it has helped many pastors to come to the realization why many so called born again Christians are unresponsive to the things of the kingdom.  Its like trying to force a dead person to live as though a corpse has a voice.  Paul makes it clear to us in Romans 5:14 “as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men”, 1 Corinthians 15: 21 & 22 “since by man came death & as in Adam all die”.  For someone to think or to be told he or she can choose to be “born again” is like saying, a baby in its mother’s womb can choose when it decides to be born.  We have all heard the familiar phrases “I have found the Lord” or the words of the local evangelist “You have found the Lord, hallelujah”.  The truth is the Lord was not lost.  The Lord just woke you up to the reality of His presence.  Someone might say what about Romans 10:14?  This does not mean that we do not go an preach (proclaim, announce or declare) the gospel (good news) but only go as our Father directs or sends us.  This was the pattern of the first born son of God (Jesus Christ).  Most often we follow the traditions of men because we have not heard the voice of our Father.  Many times Romans 10:9 is used as a formula to get someone “born again”.  Is this really what Paul is teaching here?  With a careful search of the scriptures you will find that Paul never used the term “born again”.  It is quite common among brethren to used the terms “born again and saved” as synonymous  terms but they are not synonymous  for they have there own distinct meaning.  If Paul is really giving the formula for someone to be born again then we must ask ourselves, can a dead man repent?  Can a dead man believe or confess?  If he can then we would have to disregard the following scriptures.  Acts 5:31 “repentance is given”, Acts 11:18 “God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life”, 11 Timothy 2:25 “if God perhaps will grant them repentance”, Romans 12:3 “through the grace given to me & as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith”.  The dead are told just believe, just have faith and you will be born again and if it doesn’t work then its because you didn’t believe.  How can he or she believe (have faith) if it is not first given?  The best a dead man can produce is “the sorrow of the world” (I’m sorry I got caught) which produces death (11 Corinthians 7:10).   1 John 4:19 “We love Him because He first loved us”.  Romans 5:6 “when we were without strength (feeble, sick, impotent, weak), in due time Christ died for the ungodly”.  When we had not ability, power or strength to change anything, help ourselves or do anything to correct our present condition Christ died for us.   Romans 5:8 “God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us”.

We will continue with the words of Paul from 1 Corinthians 2:14 “the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God”.  If the natural man, unregenerate or not born again person does not have the ability within himself to receive the things of the Spirit then how do you suppose he will be able to hear the gospel or get born again?  We might say well I preach the gospel to him or her so now they have heard.  If the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God then did he or she really hear or was it just the sound of your voice?  If they were not quickened first by the Spirit then they heard nothing of the Spirit.  As I mentioned before what did Nicodemus hear Jesus say?  In Ephesians 2:1 Paul tells the Ephesians brethren “you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins”.  “Who were dead”?  They were not dead physically but dead to the things of the Spirit of God.  Have you ever tried to talk to a corpus?  If you say either good or bad things to it’ does it respond in anyway or if you were to slap it would it slap you back?  Obviously the answer is no, Why?  Because it is dead, it is unresponsive.  Could it chose or make a decision to live?  As Paul said to the Ephesians “you were dead”.  In order for them to respond to the words of life or to the things of the Spirit, then they first had to be quickened by the Spirit otherwise they couldn’t respond.  What we have seen over the years is that when someone doesn’t respond to their preaching they come with their threats of hell fire, condemning them for not accepting or agreeing with what they had to say, you have no excuse I have told you so you have heard.  To me this is like condemning a child for being a child or a dog for being a dog.  Again the question arises does the natural man or a dead person (to the things of the Spirit) have within himself the ability to chose life or make any decision to the things of the Spirit unless he or she is first quickened by the Lord in them?  I remember several years ago there was a young Asian man living here in Eldoret who was Ismailis brand of Muslim.  He told us one day that many Christians would come to him and pretend to be his friend but when he didn’t accept or agree with what they said he would never see them again.  Did they really want to be his friend or did they just want to preach at him?  It was Paul’s zeal for Judaism that caused him persecute the followers of Jesus but we read in Galatians 1:13-16 where Paul says “when it pleased God, who separated me”.  This was certainly not of Paul’s choosing and even didn’t have anything to do with it.  It became Paul’s experience “when it pleased God”.  In Acts chapter 7 Stephen is reiterating to the Jews their history to them beginning with Abraham up to the present.  Did they hear Stephen?  Certainly not.  They were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth and they took him out of the city and stoned him.  Who was standing there giving his consent?  You guessed it, Saul (Paul).  Did Paul hear what Stephen was saying?  Paul didn’t begin to hear until his Damascus road experience.  Who came to him?  The Lord Jesus appeared to him (Acts 9:17).  Do we usually accept or agree with something we can not understand?

May you experience the presence of Christ in a new and living way each day as He is being unveiled in you.
We will continue with our study of “Who Chooses Who”.  We looked at several different people in the bible last month that God chose.  Now we will consider one other character which plays a interesting part considering all that has been said.  When we carefully read Job 2:1 - 7.  You will realize, God instigated the whole thing with Job.  The Lord said to satan, Have you considered My servant Job (verse 3).  Satan told God stretch out Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh (verse 5).  Who became God’s hand?  The Lord said to satan, Behold he is in your hand, but spare his life (verse 6).  Not only did satan become God’s hand or His chosen vessel but the Lord put the limitations on what satan could do so God was in control of what happened to Job.  One more thought here.  I have read the book of Job many times but I have never come across any verse where Job blamed God or satan.
In John 6:44 Jesus says “No one can come to Me except (unless, if not) the Father who sent Me draws him”.  The meaning of the word “draws” in this verse literally means “to drag” sounds like to me against their own choice.  So unless you add some other idea to this verse the one being drawn is not making any kind of choice or decision.  John 6:65 “no one can come to Me unless it has been given (not choosing) to him”.  John 12:32 Jesus says “if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw (to drag) all to Myself”.  John 15:16 Jesus says “ You did not choose Me, but I chose you”.  Jesus is telling His disciples “I chose you” but it was really the Father who chose them because in the Lord’s prayer in  John 17:9 “I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me”.  Acts 10:38 - 41 Peter is testifying, “not to all people, but to witnesses chosen before by God”.  Acts 13:2 “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them”.  Romans 9:11 -16 & 21 “not yet being born (chosen before being born) nor having done any good or evil”.  Paul goes on to reveal the purpose, “that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works but of Him who calls”.  Paul sheds further light on the subject from 1 Corinthians 2:14 “the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God”.  If the natural man, unregenerate or not born again person does not have the ability within himself to receive the things of the Spirit then how do you suppose he will be able to hear the gospel or get born again?  Jesus said in John 6:63 “My words are Spirit and they are life”.  This should be clear to us that if and when the natural man receives the things of the Spirit the ability comes from outside of himself.  You remember the conservation Jesus had with Nicodemus in John 3:1 - 7.  Jesus spoke of a spiritual birthing but Nicodemus only understood a natural birth.
